SMT Specialist nurses

The SMT employs specialist nurses who provide confidential information and support to people with MSA, their family and carers. The nurses also share their knowledge, skills and experience in MSA with health and social care professionals.

They operate a telephone advice line (Mon-Fri 9.30-4.30) There is an answer machine service when the office is unattended.

The nurses produce a range of written information, which like all of our services, is provided free of charge.

the MSA Resource folder

An MSA Resource folder is sent to all new MSA members - this contains copies of our key publications. This useful folder also gives members the opportunity to store all their information on their treatment and management in one place - making it easy to pick up and take with them to appointments with specialists, GPs and therapy teams. It's also useful when going into hospital to help provide information to the staff caring for them.

The Office Team also organize Regional Awareness Days comprising two parts. The morning is an education session for the local health and social care professionals, where they have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences on the management of MSA. In the afternoon there is a support meeting – offering members and their families an opportunity to meet the nurses in person as well as some of our other members in the area.
